What is consignment?
Consignment is - you provide the furnishings, we provide the store. We share the profits. When sold, you receive 50% of the selling price of your consigned piece(s).
What type of pieces will Optimist’s Bazaar accept?
We love unique chairs, tables, lamps, rugs, chandeliers, art, mirrors and accessories. We will accept some sofas. Your pieces need to be clean and free of rips, tears, damage, stains, smells and pet hair. We are not able to accept baby furniture, appliances or electronics.
How do I know if my pieces are right for Optimist’s Bazaar?
We highly recommend a visit to our shop to get a feel for the pieces we carry, or you can visit our website: optimistsbazaar.com. Your piece(s) must be approved. This is very easy! We encourage you to email a photo of your proposed piece to: email@example.com for an online evaluation or you are always welcome to stop by and show us - if you can carry it! If approved, you can leave it, bring it in, or we can recommend a professional mover. We will have a contract for you to look over, briefly fill out, and sign.
How do I get paid?
After your piece(s) sells, you will receive half of the price. Consigned pieces will be marked down in this manner:
1st month - full price
2nd month - 20% off full price
3rd month - 40% off full price
Most pieces sell in 3 months. Please keep in mind that making a considerable profit is rare. When your piece has sold, you will receive a check in the mail the month following its sale.
What if my piece does not sell?
Most of our accepted pieces sell quickly. However, if it does not sell after several months, you may choose to pick it up -or- with your permission, Optimist’s Bazaar will happily donate it to a worthy cause free of charge.
